Stroud Auctions classic car, motorbike and transport department is fast becoming one of the most popular and has grown to include over 200 lots in each sale. Classic, vintage and prestige cars of all ages are included and recent sales include a Jaguar E-type, Ferrari Dino, Daimler Dart, Austin Seven Chummy, Healey Duncan and Riley Delphi Saloon. Motorbikes of all ages are also included and one notable sale is of a 1927 Cotton Works racing bike built in Gloucester and was salvaged from the back of a shed where it had been rotting away for many years. Despite the condition meaning it no longer resembled a motorbike it sold for over £5000.
As well as cars and motorbikes, automobilia always sells very well and items such as oil and petrol cans, mascots and badges, petrol globes and advertising items are particularly sought after. Railwayana also features prominently including posters, signage, nameplates, hardware, pocket watches etc. With railwayana it can very often be the less well known railways that, due to their rairity, command the best prices. The small railways that were absorbed into the big 4 of the GWR, LMS, LNER and SR and subsequently British Railways. Many of these railways had fewer items produced and were in existence for much shorter periods of time, hence items can be difficult for collectors to find and the prices reflect this.
