Classic Cars

Overview

Often a nostalgic purchase, classic cars are usually bought due to being something dreamed of as a youngster, or alternatively as a result of an interest developed over a lifetime. As with anything being sold, condition and provenance is key, hence particularly good examples with low mileage, history and their original registration number are always highly sought after.

Enthusiasts become particularly excited to see a freshly discovered car which has just been lying dormant. Harper Field recently sold a 1927 Austin Seven Chummy which had been kept for years in a garage near the centre of Gloucester, with its last tax disc dated 1971, and it made a pleasing £10,600 despite needing recommissioning work to bring it back on the road. Another auction saw a 1975 Series III Land Rover sell for over £9,000, due in the most part to the mere 25,000 miles it had covered. You can always restore a car, but low mileage or good service history is impossible to recreate.

If you are thinking of consigning a car or motorbike for auction, then contact Mark at Harper Field. We can arrange nationwide collection and delivery of any vehicle.
